Hundreds of motorcycle riders will meet in the Domain this morning joining with NSW Police and their colleagues from across the country for the annual Wall to Wall Ride for Remembrance.
This charity ride commenced in 2009 and is a police memorial motorbike ride that commemorates the service and sacrifices of fallen Australian police, raises funds in support of their families and promotes motorcycle safety.
Riders start at their jurisdictions’ dedicated place of remembrance and reflection and make their way to the national capital, before making a final gesture of police solidarity and remembrance in one large group ride to the National Police Memorial. About 1,800 motorcyclists are expected to be in the group.
The ride will depart The Domain, Sydney, at 8am today (Saturday 12 September 2026), and will consist of serving and retired police members, sworn and unsworn, and other friends, family and proud supporters of police.
The NSW contingent will travel from the NSW Police Wall of Remembrance in Sydney to the National Police Memorial in Canberra, where they will participate in a service to honour those who have fallen.
After departing The Domain, the riders will be escorted through the Sydney CBD, Bradfield Highway over the Sydney Harbour Bridge before travelling along the Warringah Freeway, M2, M7 & M5 Motorways, Hume and Federal Highways.
A special tribute will be made to a number of fallen officers at saluting points whilst on route to Canberra.
Saluting point locations involve officers from the Command responsible for the stated area coming to attention and saluting the ride as well as displaying the name of the fallen officer as the ride passes.
These locations – along with the name of the officer being honoured – and the times the contingent is expected to arrive at is as follows:
• M7 Motorway, South of Bernera Road, Prestons, 8.35am – Probationary Constable Tim Proctor, died in a crash in 2019.
• Hume Highway Menangle Park, Jim Affleck Bridge, 8.45am – named in honour of Senior Constable Jim Affleck who was struck by a stolen vehicle in 2001.
• Hume Highway, Welby underneath Old Hume Highway overpass, Welby, 9.30am – Constable Anthony Streher fatal injuries in 1995 from a motor vehicle crash.
• Sydney Road & Hume Highway interchange, North Goulburn, 10.20am – Constable Shelly Davis died in a crash in 2004.
• Federal Highway, Rowes Lagoon 12pm – Constable Graeme Lees who died in 2005 in a motor vehicle crash.
• Federal Highway, Collector, 12.10pm – Constable Samuel Nelson fatally shot in 1865.
The ride will also attend the Academy at 10.30am for a supplied lunch.
Arrival time in Canberra will be about 1pm.
Assistant Commissioner David Driver, APM Commander of the Traffic & Highway Patrol Command said the ride was an important way to remember fallen officers and raise funds for NSW Police Legacy.

“This event is held in the lead up to National Police Remembrance Day and gives us the chance to reflect on not only those police officers who have been killed in the line of duty but also their families who have been left behind.”
