Water Police from across Queensland will ride the waves together this holiday season to ensure safety on the waterways.
The combined operation is designed to deliver key safety messages to vessel masters, including personal watercraft riders, to ensure they are aware of their obligations not only to their passengers but other users of the waterways.
Acting Senior Sergeant Damian Hayes said that enforcement patrols will be conducted along all creeks, rivers and anchorages from Caloundra to the Southern Bay Islands.
“Vessel masters should expect to be stopped by police for compliance checks of their license, registration and on-board safety equipment,” Acting Senior Sergeant Hayes said.
“The waterways are busy at this time of the year and all masters, including personal watercraft riders, should be aware of their obligations before they set out.
“Water police are there to ensure that everyone has a splashing good time on the waterways, safely.”
This operation will continue through until the end of the Australia Day long weekend.
