We Are Brimbank campaign boosts local business

Brimbank Council has launched another campaign to support local business and spread the message that Brimbank is open for business.

Council’s ‘We Are Brimbank and We are Open for Business’ campaign showcases a range of diverse businesses around the municipality, a taste of the City’s unique offering.

The campaign follows an earlier ‘Welcome. We Are Brimbank’ campaign that shared our pride in where we live, and showed what a wonderful, diverse, vibrant and welcoming City Brimbank is.

Brimbank Mayor Cr Ranka Rasic said the ‘Welcome We Are Brimbank’ business campaign is part of the strong support Council is providing local business, especially through the COVID-19 recovery phase.

“From the start of the pandemic, Council has been quick to act to help support local businesses as they suffer though the worst economic shock in our times.

“Council has offered rates relief, COVID-19 support services and business grants. Council also established a COVID-19 Brimbank Response and Recovery Business Taskforce that helps identify local business advocacy priorities, and provides a Business Support and Assistance Information and Resources section on its website.

“Now as restrictions start to ease, we’re determined to help our local traders recover as quickly as possible.

“Our campaign is a perfect way to encourage our community to support their local businesses and spend locally, whether it is for food, home, entertainment or Christmas gifts in the holiday season.

“Our message is that Brimbank welcomes entrepreneurs, start-ups and businesses with bold ambitions. And of course, that Brimbank offers a wide range of exciting and top quality products and experiences to enjoy.

“On behalf of Council, I’d like to thank all the businesses who took part in the campaign development,” Cr Rasic said.

The campaign includes a series of heart-warming video stories from companies like Kontiki Cultural Women Empowerment Inc, Overnewton Castle, Luus Industries, Saint Side and Watergardens Town Centre. The videos will be promoted via social media and cinema advertising with postcards and posters also available. The campaign also features some loved and unique local businesses such as the Village Gem and Senserrick’s Fruit & Flowers.

Council postponed launching the campaign until COVID-19 restrictions eased and businesses were allowed to open more fully.

As the Victorian Government looks to ease restrictions further, Council is encouraging the community to support local business in any way they can.

Council has been actively supporting local cafes and restaurants to safely prepare for outdoor dining, and is encouraging community members to look up local businesses and find out what’s open through the Brimbank Think. Shop. Buy Local Alpaca Map.

Council’s support actions are guided by a whole-of-Council Brimbank Coronavirus (COVID-19) Response and Recovery Strategy, and it also recently launched a new 19 Point Action Plan for COVID-19 Recovery and Response.
