We’re looking for people who want to help their community – Wollongong

Have you ever put your hand up to help at your children’s school’s P&C, joined a tree planting day, given your time to coach a local basketball team, or helped run a community event?

If you answered yes to any of these then congratulations, you’re a volunteer! Volunteering comes in a wide range of shapes and forms and many of us are really passionate about helping our community.

We know there are many people who are looking for opportunities to give back and that’s why we’re inviting you to attend the Illawarra Volunteer Expo on Thursday 19 May at the Wollongong Town Hall. Here you can learn about the many different volunteering opportunities available and find out how you can get involved in your community.

“Whether you want to lead a free tour at the Wollongong Art Gallery, deliver library books to people who are house-bound, plant trees in public spaces, help run a major event, support young people through youth activities, give homework help to students from refugee backgrounds, or drive community members who lack transport to their appointments – there really is a volunteering opportunity for everyone,” Wollongong City Lord Mayor Councillor Gordon Bradbery AM said.
