Gladstone Tactical Crime Squad (TCS) with assistance from Rockhampton TCS and Gladstone Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) have charged two people with multiple weapons offences following the execution of a search warrant on a Darts Creek property this month.
On 14 July, it will be alleged police located and seized seven unregistered firearms, a crossbow, and a quantity of ammunition at the address.
Detective Inspector Luke Peachey said police will continue to detect, deter and disrupt the possession of illegal firearms within the community.
“The Queensland Police Service is focused on identifying, seizing and removing these illegal and dangerous weapons from our community and bringing those involved before the courts,” said Detective Inspector Peachey.
“We will continue to target anyone in possession of illegal weapons and urge anyone with information to report it to police.”
“The community plays a key role in the detection of these offences, and I encourage them to continue to work with and help police to identify and take possession of these dangerous items.
“Illegal weapons pose a significant risk to the community and police, and unlawfully possessing these items is a serious criminal offence.”
A 30-year-old Darts Creek man was charged with two counts of unlawful possession of weapons, and one count of authority required to possess explosives (ammunition).
A 23-year-old Darts Creek woman was charged with one count of unlawful possession of weapons.
Both are due to appear before Gladstone Magistrates Court on 3 August.
