West Hobart Crash

About 10.40pm on Tuesday 30 March, police were alerted to a vehicle which had crashed in Faraday Street, West Hobart.

A man was witnessed leaving the scene. Witnesses identified the driver to police and he was located nearby in William Street, West Hobart.

The car driven by the man was a white Holden Commodore station wagon which had varied crash damage indicating it has hit other cars, signs and structures prior to stopping in Faraday Street. The drivers side tyre had been ripped from the rim and the car had sustained significant panel damage.

Initial investigations revealed that the car has likely impacted with parked cars and other structures in the Bonnington Street, Faraday Street and Lansdowne Crescent area.

The driver, a 23 year old man of no fixed place of abode, was charged with exceeding 0.05, driving under the influence and issued with an immediate 12-month driving disqualification.

He was bailed to appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court at a later date.

Police would like to hear from any residents from West Hobart who discovered damage to their parked cars or property overnight.
