Western Australia coronovirus update as at 19 March 2021

The Department of Health has reported two new cases of COVID-19 overnight.

The new cases are two males in their 30s who have returned from overseas travel and are currently in hotel quarantine.

The State’s total number of confirmed cases now stands at 929.

WA Health is monitoring 12 active cases of COVID-19 and 908 people have recovered from the virus in WA.

Yesterday 2629 people were vaccinated. To date, 28,134 West Australians have received the COVID vaccine.

Yesterday at WA Health COVID clinics 250 people presented for testing – 249 were assessed and swabbed.

There have been 915,537 COVID-19 tests performed in WA. Of those, 133,288 were from regional WA.

To date, 33 cases of variant strains have been detected in Western Australia (25 of the B.1.1.7 strain and 8 of the B.1.351 strain).
