Western Australia Covid update as at 17 October 2021

WA Health is reporting no new cases of COVID-19 overnight.

The State’s total remains at 1112. To date, 1099 people have recovered from the virus in WA.

As of last night, WA Health was monitoring four active COVID-19 cases, including three people who are in hotel quarantine and one in Fiona Stanley Hospital from the vessel MV Stolt Sakura.

Truck driver

All contacts of the truck driver who tested positive to COVID-19 on October 5 have now had final testing, and all have returned a negative result. As of today (October 17), all close contacts will have completed 14 days of self-quarantine.

Returned diplomat

The returned diplomat and family remain in a quarantine facility. All other contacts have now had final testing, and all have returned a negative result. As of today (October 17), all close contacts will have completed 14 days of self-quarantine.

Testing clinics

Yesterday, 464 people were swabbed at State-run clinics. To date, there have been 1,818,670 COVID-19 tests performed in WA. Of those, 211,712 were in regional WA.

COVID-19 vaccinations*

On Friday, 26,519 COVID-19 vaccine doses were recorded in WA –14,470 of these were second doses. The total includes 5577 historic COVID-19 vaccine doses*. These figures represent COVID-19 vaccinations at State-run clinics and doses given as part of the Commonwealth rollout**.
