What rhymes with trainee?

Yippee? Glee? Whoopee?

Rhyme or no, applications are now open for our new 12-month Traineeship Program!

The program offers six candidates learning and development, as well as the opportunity to expand their personal and professional capabilities, while building confidence in a career.

Successful participants will work Monday to Friday, moving throughout our different departments including Planning and Infrastructure, Community Strengthening and Business Improvement, with direct support with a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and a member of Shire staff. Each working week, Trainees will have a pre-prepared schedule which includes on-site training and at-home study, as well as one-on-one sessions with the RTO.

Trainees will be paid while they work and study, receiving a formal and recognised qualification, Certificate III in Business.

Trainee roles will be available across our three office sites (Hastings, Mornington and Rosebud). All roles will be office based.

We want to directly invest into our community, to provide opportunities and build long term local capacity and skills.

Quotes attributable to Mayor Councillor Simon Brooks:

“The Traineeship Program is one of the many ways we’re supporting a robust, innovative and diverse economy. It’s also a humble way we can support a flourishing, healthy and connected community, as per our Council and Wellbeing Plan.

“This program is open to everyone. There is very thorough support for priority groups gaining employment and supporting vulnerable youth.”
