Parkes Shire

The largest social research project in Australian history is underway with the 2021 Australian Liveability Census. After a year where our local neighbourhoods were more important than ever, it is the perfect time to understand what would make them better for you.

Place Score, with support from the Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources, is running the 2021 Australian Liveability Census, Australia’s largest community-led social research project led.

The 2021 Liveability Census aims to capture what really matters to our communities and how our cities, towns and neighbourhoods are performing today.

Parkes Shire Councillor George Pratt said, “We encourage you to take just 15 minutes to sit down and share what the most important thing to you is, in your ideal neighbourhood and include our community’s perspective in a national forum.”

From open green spaces, to better footpaths, a buzzing nightlife or play equipment. What is your idea, big or small to make your neighbourhood more livable for you?

More parks or parking? Bike lanes or better footpaths? Playgrounds or nightlife?

“Council can also use the Census data to inform the next Parkes Shire Community Strategic Plan, as well as targeted service planning. Plus, you have the chance to win one of ten $100 gift vouchers to be used in over 80 retailers nationally,” said Cr Pratt.
