Where in world is hapless Dr Broad?

Jane Howlett, Liberal Member for Prosser

A week after his unhinged, late-night tirade in Parliament, Shane Broad is yet to publicly appear, nor apologise.

After referring to members of the Yes AFL Team, Yes Stadium group as “predominately middle-aged males, very passionate about a subject” who “do not really care about details, they do not care about what other people are expressing as opinions…They get so wound up in this echo chamber they can do crazy stuff”, Dr Broad was also forced to withdraw his disgusting comments directed at Liberal Minister Madeleine Ogilvie.

Liberal Member for Prosser, Jane Howlett said the silence of Dr Broad a week after the gobsmacking rant was more than telling.

“Dr Broad knows he’s in the wrong. Instead of fronting up and owning up for this outrageous attack, he’s gone into hiding,” Ms Howlett said.

“Maybe he’s finally getting around to producing Labor’s first alternate Budget in a decade? I think that’s probably wishful thinking.

“Dr Broad’s complete disregard for anyone with a differing opinion than him is below the standard expected of Members of Parliament in Tasmania.

“Despite his silence, tens of thousands of Tasmanians, stemming from all walks of life have now seen his true colours.

“To call thousands of footy-loving Tasmanians, just a group of “middle-aged males” with the potential to get a “little bit of a crazy bent, to go and do something stupid” is misinformed at best and rank misogyny at worst.

“At some point in time, Dr Broad will have to front up and answer for his actions.

“Culture starts at the top, and if Ms White is not willing to make the hard decisions in opposition, she needs to stand aside and let someone who can take over,” Ms Howlett concluded.
