White contradicts herself on Ambulance Tasmania resourcing

Sarah Courtney,Minister for Health

You simply cannot trust Labor when it comes to the funding of Ambulance Tasmania.

Under increasing pressure to keep her job, Rebecca White in Question Time today resorted to either deliberately misleading Tasmanians, or admitting she simply does not understand how the State Budget works.

The fact is, the Hodgman majority Liberal Government’s 2019-20 State Budget invests $438 million over the next four years in Ambulance Tasmania.

Contrast this to the last Labor-Green Government State Budget, which saw just $234 million in spending over four years for Ambulance Tasmania.

The figures show the Hodgman majority Liberal Government is increasing funding to Ambulance Tasmania by $204 million, a rise of 87 per cent.

Rebecca White’s claims today in Parliament are misleading, and follow Labor’s baffling calls for the Government to halt plans to boost regional paramedic services.

Rebecca White and Labor cannot have it both ways, you cannot complain about additional paramedics being deployed into regional communities and then claim there is a cut in resources.

It’s about time Rebecca White focused on the health of Tasmanians, rather than the health of her leadership.
