Wide Bay Police officers will be rolling up their sleeves to donate blood and plasma as part of a new blood drive BleedBlue4Jordan, to support one of their own who was injured in the line of duty.
On Friday 24 July 2026, First Year Constable Jordan May sustained a gunshot wound to the leg while attending a domestic violence matter at a residence in Yengarie.
He was flown from Hervey Bay Hospital to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital for treatment, during which he has received multiple blood transfusions.
BleedBlue4Jordan runs from 22 September until 31 October and has a goal of 1000 lives saved, which equates to 334 donations.
Wide Bay District Officer Superintendent Anne Vogler says having attended many frontline emergencies, police know firsthand how blood can save lives during critical situations.
“We are incredibly fortunate Jordan is still with us and that wouldn’t have been possible without the generosity of blood donors,” she said.
“Jordan is in high spirits in hospital, and says he is grateful for anyone who can donate to help others in similar situations.”
“Helping people is at the core of what Queensland Police Service officers do every day and this is just another way we can contribute to saving lives.”
