Wolli Creek Trees Vandalised: Bayside

Bayside Council is doing all it can to save several mature Moreton Bay fig trees in Cahill Park, Wolli Creek that were recently vandalised.

Council staff discovered the four magnificent fig trees had been drenched in what appears to be motor sump oil while working in the park on Thursday, 2 November.

The team washed out as out as much of the oil as possible to give the trees a better chance of survival and will be monitoring their ongoing health very closely.

Samples of the substance have been sent off for testing to ensure the treatments used will give the trees the best chance of survival, and the trees will be monitored closely.

Council is also working with Local Police and examining available CCTV footage from the area.

If anyone noticed any suspicious behaviour or has photographs/video of the suspects please contact Council and the NSW Police Force.
