Woman assaulted in Mooroopna home invasion

Shepparton Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating a home invasion and a burglary in Mooroopna on Thursday 24 August.

It is believed two offenders broke into a business on McLennan Street about 2.15am.

Officers say the thieves ransacked the store looking for cash, then fled the scene.

The offenders returned to the same street, broke into a residential premises on Joseph Street and threatened the occupant with a gun demanding money about 3.50am.

A 58-year-old woman told them she didn’t have any, so they punched her before taking off with her car keys and then her vehicle parked outside.

She sustained minor injuries and did not require treatment.

The stolen vehicle is described as a 2009 silver Volkswagen Passat, bearing the registration 1TA3GA and was last seen on Joseph Street.
