A woman has been charged after allegedly attempting to take prohibited drugs into a correctional centre in the state’s Central West on the weekend.
Officers attached to Orana Mid Western Police District were called to a correctional centre on Mudgee-Goolma Road, Wellington, about 9.30am on Saturday 12 September 2026, following reports a person had attempted to bring prohibited drugs into the facility.
Police arrived and were told a 36-year-old woman had allegedly attempted to bring in methamphetamine and bupernorphine on her way in to visit a person, when a drug detection dog gave a positive indication.
During a search of the woman’s vehicle, police seized two mobile phones.
The woman was arrested and taken to Dubbo Police Station where she was charged with seven offences,
- Bring etc prohibited drug/plant into place of detention (two counts)
- Possess prohibited drug (two counts)
- Supply prohibited drug less than or equal to small quantity
- Supply prohibited drug greater than small and less than or equal to indictable quantity, and
- Drive motor vehicle during disqualification period.
She was refused bail and appeared before Bail Division Court 4 yesterday (Sunday 13 September 2026), where she was formally refused bail to reappear before Wellington Local Court on Tuesday 22 September 2026.
