A woman has been airlifted to hospital after crashing into a tree in the state’s far south overnight.
Shortly after 4pm (Monday 7 September 2020), a blue Ford sedan allegedly travelled through the Barmah Road checkpoint at Moama and failed to stop for police.
The car, which police allege was travelling in excess of 100km/h, was not pursued for safety reasons.
About 5.30pm, police were called to Line Road, Moama, following reports a blue Ford sedan had crashed into a tree.
Officers from Murray River Police District attended and commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, a 52-year-old woman, was freed from the vehicle by attending police and treated at the scene, before being flown to a hospital in Melbourne.
She sustained a broken leg and head injuries as a result of the crash and remains in hospital in a critical condition.
