Women’s Health at the heart of nursing International Women’s Day 2024 #InspireInclusion
On International Women’s Day (IWD) 2024, the Australian College of Nursing (ACN) reiterates and reinforces the commitment of nurses and the nursing profession to improving women’s health and wellbeing.
ACN CEO, Adjunct Professor Kylie Ward FACN, said the IWD 2024 campaign theme, Inspire Inclusion, reflects the values, practices, and objectives of ACN and the nursing profession.
“As a leading female-dominated profession, nursing is at the heart of passionate and compassionate care for women,” Adjunct Professor Ward said.
“Nurses are uniquely placed to be by the side of women to provide care through all stages – and all circumstances – of life.
“This includes physical health, mental health, and total wellbeing, including in response to unwanted, unexpected, and harmful incidents and events.
“Nurses are increasingly at the forefront of providing care and comfort for women who are victims of domestic violence and sexual violence, or who find themselves homeless or isolated for reasons beyond their control.
“This is on top of traditional and established leadership in maternal health, mental health, Indigenous health, rural and remote health, drug and alcohol management, aged care, palliative care, end of life care, hospital emergency, primary care, child and youth health, and prevention.
“There are few health settings where nurses are not leading in the provision of innovative and specialised care and advice and comfort for women.
“Nurses inspire. Nurses are all about inclusion.
“Nurses are the solution.”
