Women in sport are being given more opportunities to lead on and off the field thanks to an Andrews Labor Government program.
Minister for Community Sport Ros Spence today announced the 96 women to benefit from the Labor Government’s latest round of the Change our Game Professional Development Scholarship Program.
The scholarships provide grants from $5,000 to $10,000 for women to undertake professional development, education and training.
Covering five categories, the scholarships create opportunities for women in the early stages of their careers right through to supporting those at an executive or governance level.
It offers a full range of support for women, including professional development programs and leadership sessions, to strengthen the specialist skills needed for their roles in the sport sector.
General Manager of Game Development at Hockey Victoria Suzanne Henderson will use her scholarship to attend the International Working Group World Conference on Women and Sport in Auckland, New Zealand, from 14-17 November 2022.
Ms Henderson hopes the conference will lead to greater insights and collaborations to enable her to advance equality and inclusion programs she oversees in hockey throughout Victoria.
The Program is run by the Labor Government’s Office for Women in Sport and Recreation through its Change our Game initiative.
