World Bathing Day, taking place on June 22, invites people from all corners of the globe to commemorate the transformative practice of bathing.

This year’s theme, “Reawaken,” encourages individuals and communities to reconnect, unite, and experience the profound healing power of water.

Bathing Australia, an emerging business group comprising operators and developers of hot springs, mineral springs, and sea bath facilities, is leading the celebration of World Bathing Day – inviting communities to share their local bathing places by posting images and/or music videos from the day on social media using the hashtags #worldbathingday.

Founder and Creative Director of the Peninsula Hot Springs Group (a Bathing Australia member), Charles Davidson, said “World Bathing Day is time to shine a spotlight on the unique gift we have in Victoria with our natural hot springs and share the importance of sustainable tourism”.

“In an era marked by rapid urbanization and technological advancements, World Bathing Day serves as a timely reminder to re-establish our connection with nature and foster sustainable practices in tourism.”

“We are so fortunate in Victoria to have access to an abundance of natural hot springs. These hot springs offer a sanctuary where visitors can connect with nature and experience its healing benefits. By promoting sustainable practices, we can protect and preserve these natural gems for future generations to enjoy.”

As part of the festivities, several remarkable locations across Victoria will host events, providing unique opportunities for individuals to experience the profound connection between bathing, our environment, and the well-being of both individuals and communities.

Here are just a few of the exceptional events taking place in Victoria on World Bathing Day:

  • Peninsula Hot Springs: sunrise ceremony, hot springs yoga, breathwork and a sound healing sensory dome
  • Metung Hot Springs: sunrise bathing at the hilltop escarpment, hot springs yoga, sound healing meditation and winter solstice fire ceremony & bathing ritual
  • Alba Thermal Springs & Spa: night owl bathing, winter solstice celebration, mulled wine, stargazing, storytelling, and an exclusive winter menu
  • Hepburn Bathhouse and Spa: special Nourish & Bathe packages to celebrate World Bathing Day.

Speaking on behalf of Bathing Australia member Alba Thermal Springs and Spa, Director of Sales & Marketing Kadi Morrison said hot springs destinations across Victoria are embracing the spirit of World Bathing Day by offering immersive experiences that showcase the beauty of their surrounding landscapes.

“These experiences not only invite visitors to unwind and recharge but also promote an appreciation for the local ecosystem and cultural heritage.

“As we celebrate World Bathing Day, we are reminded of the immense privilege we have in Victoria to be surrounded by these natural mineral waters.”

This sentiment was echoed by Karen Golden, GM of Tourism and Wellness at Belgravia Leisure who manages the iconic Hepburn Bathhouse and Spa.

“Bathing in the mineral waters serves as a reminder of the extraordinary beauty and biodiversity of our environment, urging us to become stewards of our land and embrace sustainable tourism practices.”
