A Matt Guy Liberals and Nationals Government will contribute $5 million towards the upgrade of facilities at Emil Madsen Reserve in Mount Eliza.
Emil Madsen Reserve brings together more than 2000 community members across all ages to play sport, making it one of the largest participation sporting sites in Australia.
The funding contribution will see the full realisation of the Emil Madsen Reserve masterplan in conjunction with the clubs, Federal Government and Shire, developed for the upgrade of multiple facilities at the reserve including:
- Two new sporting pavilions servicing soccer, netball, football and cricket;
- New and improved playing surfaces, including drainage and lighting upgrades;
- New cricket nets;
- New community spaces with picnic tables, barbeques and playgrounds;
- Improved carparking and public amenities;
- An upgraded skate park.
Under the Liberals and Nationals’ plan, families in the area would benefit from greater access to world-class facilities, with a vision to transform the reserve into a community hub.
Liberal Member for Gembrook, Brad Battin, said the Liberals and Nationals are focused on meeting the needs of the community by delivering better local suburban infrastructure.
“Local sporting clubs play a vital role right across Victoria and the Liberals and Nationals are proud to support grassroots sport with commitments like this.”
Liberal Candidate for Mornington, Chris Crewther, said grassroots sport is at the heart of the Mount Eliza and broader Peninsula communities.
“The local community have come out in force advocating for this project for a long time, and it’s great to be here to announce that these much-needed upgrades are one step closer.”
