Writers, readers and stories… and lots more at Stonnington Libraries

Enjoy a great range of fine literary events at our libraries or at home.

The libraries bring writers and readers together through storytelling events, author talks, writing workshops and book groups. Or why not share your love of reading at one of our book discussion groups? Some groups read a specific book each month while others are open to talking about whatever you have been reading lately.

Book Chat

Starting Wednesday, 7 February at Prahan Square Library, join us each month for a lively chat about books and reading. We’d love to hear what you’re reading or listening to – whether it’s books, short stories, poems, audiobooks or podcasts.

Join our community of readers to share your reading experiences and recommendations. Discover new books and authors or delve into old favourites. New participants are warmly welcomed. Free event, no bookings required.

11.30am to 12.30pm, Wednesdays, Prahran Square Library, Prahran Square (northern end), Prahran

Classic Short Reads Club

Ever wanted to tackle the classics but unsure where to begin? Or have you wanted to join a book club but don’t always have the time to read an entire book? The Classic Short Reads Club is for you. Meeting monthly for some lively discussion about a classic short story, you’ll discover hidden gems, revisit old favourites and meet other curious readers. Hint: just do your best to read the story before each session.

The next session is on Gooseberries by Anton Chekhov Tuesday, 27 February, 2pm to 3pm Toorak/South Yarra Library, 340 Toorak Road, Toorak.
