Wyndham Libraries celebrates Children’s Book Week

Wyndham Libraries are delighted to be celebrating the Children’s Book Council of Australia’s (CBCA), Book Week which runs from the 20 to 26 August.

This year, the theme is Dreaming With Eyes Open; let your imagination run wild! Imagine the places you could go if you dream yourself into a book.

Wyndham City’s Learning City portfolio holder, Cr Jasmine Hill said: “There are so many events on offer at your local branch. Why not join in one of the fantastic book-themed activities that are available at every library branch including Rhyme Time for one to five year-olds – and the children can dress up as their favourite book character to scavenger hunt, zine making, craft and more.”

“There is so much in store for Book Week – from the quirky and delightful Paddington Bear that will be making a guest appearance at Manor Lakes Library at 10.30am, Thursday 25 August to exploring a range of Kids Club Online Book Week and Story Box Library activities that will be amazing and fun.”

“For our younger residents starting their learning journey, there is a wide range of resources available to support early literacy and numeracy. As well as a wide range of interesting and entertaining books to engage young readers.”

“Our libraries can support your child to enjoy reading by providing books to suit all reading levels. We can help your child work out what to read next.”

Wyndham City Libraries has five conveniently located branches, a Book Locker at Williams Landing Shopping Centre and the newly opened Williams Landing Library Lounge, plus a large eCollection available for you to explore, as well as a Pop- Up Library Van that visits community centres across Wyndham.

The Libraries’ extensive collection includes books, magazines, audiobooks, eBooks, comics, streaming content such as films, TV, music and more. Whether you prefer to borrow in-branch or online, there’s something to interest even the fussiest reader!

For younger readers, there is a vast array of children’s books, from picture books to fairy tales to comic books and action-adventure titles.

Best of all, it’s free to join and borrow! If you aren’t already a member, you can sign up online or visit one of the five library branches.

No one is too young to join- even a newborn can have a library card! Membership options and collections cater for all ages.
