Yarra launches Victoria’s first inner-urban community battery

This World Environment Day (5 June), Yarra City Council, in partnership with the Yarra Energy Foundation (YEF) will launch Victoria’s first-ever inner-urban community battery.

Located at 193-205 McKean Street, Fitzroy North, the community battery is connected to the local subnetwork of nearly 200 premises, and aims to:

• Reduce emissions from electricity use
• Store renewable energy
• Absorb and redistribute excess solar energy
• Reduce demand on the electricity grid
