Northern Territory Police have arrested a 17-year-old male in relation to an alleged aggravated robbery at a Katherine service station.
At about 5:20am yesterday, two males allegedly forced entry into the service station through a rear door.
The pair, allegedly armed with a wrench and a rock, entered the staff area behind the counter and demanded money from employees.
The employees retreated to a secure office and contacted Triple Zero.
The offenders allegedly stole two cash register tills, a quantity of cigarettes, an employee’s bag and an electric scooter before fleeing the scene.
Police established a crime scene and commenced investigations. The stolen scooter, clothing allegedly worn during the incident and a quantity of cigarettes were subsequently located and seized.
Investigators executed a search warrant at a residence in Katherine East, where further clothing allegedly linked to the incident was seized.
The 17-year-old was arrested and taken to the Katherine Watch House. He is expected to be charged with aggravated robbery, property damage, theft and breach of bail.
Investigations remain ongoing to locate the second alleged offender.
