Youth disturbances – Casuarina area

Northern Territory Police have stepped up their presence in Casuarina following a sharp increase in youth criminal activity in the past few days.

Superintendent Sean Parnell said, “Most incidents have been general disturbances, however we have seen an aggravated assault, rock throwing, stealing and public drinking in the area.

“We have identified a number of offenders through CCTV.

“With the Easter weekend just gone and the school holidays fast approaching, we reassure the community that we are taking every effort to ensure the young people in the area behave themselves.

“Police are working closely with colleagues at the Department of Education, Larrakia Aboriginal Corporation and Territory Families around school holiday activities and other engagement strategies.”

Police will be conducting high visibility patrols in the area, including the Mounted Unit, Dog Operations, and traffic and foot patrols.

“We encourage the public to report any criminal or antisocial activity on 131 444 or to any police officer on patrol.”
