$1m hydro crop in Riverstone factory unit, two charged

Two men have been charged after a hydroponic cannabis crop was discovered in Riverstone yesterday.

Officers from Quakers Hill Police Area Command have been told the landlord had attended his factory unit on Melbourne Road about 10.30am Thursday (14 May 2020), reportedly over unpaid rent.

He alerted police when he discovered 330 plants being grown in an enhanced indoor hydronic setup inside the unit. The crop has an estimated potential street value of $1m.

Two men, aged 24 and 25, were arrested at the scene a short time later and were taken to Riverstone Police Station where they were charged with

• Cultivate prohibited plant>= commercial quantity-cannabis

• Enhanced indoor cultivate cannabis for commercial purpose

• Possess prohibited plant >= commercial quantity

• Use/consume/waste etc electricity without authority

They were refused bail to appear in Parramatta Local Court later today (Friday 15 May 2020).
