2019 BetEasy Darwin Triple Crown a Resounding Success

After 13 years, the BetEasy Darwin Triple Crown title has finally been won.

Reigning Supercars Champion Scott McLaughlin secured the title by taking out the win in Race 15 on Saturday, as well the Top Ten Shootout and then rounding it out with a comprehensive win in Race 16 race on Sunday.

A clean sweep of all three make McLaughlin the first ever winner of the Triple Crown – a feat that has never been secured before in its history.

This years BetEasy Darwin Triple Crown has been a huge success with approximately 36,077 people attending the three day event at Hidden Valley from Friday, 14 June to Sunday, 16 June.

Thousands of local residents and interstate visitors converged on the Top End for the events lead-up activities which were held in Darwin CBD, Mindil Beach and Palmerston.

The calibre of motorsports events in the Northern Territory only continues to rise, with both the BetEasy Darwin Triple Crown and Finke Desert Race attracting internationally-renowned stuntman Robbie Maddison for a number of stunt displays and public appearances in Darwin and Alice Springs.

Members of the public are urged to follow Darwin Supercars on social media to see highlights from this years event, and stay tuned for the 2020 dates which are soon to be announced.

As noted by Minister for Tourism, Sport and Culture, Lauren Moss:

The 2019 BetEasy Darwin Triple Crown was a huge success, with thousands of both locals and visitors alike supporting this much-loved instalment on the Territorys Dry Season calendar of events.

Providing high quality events such as the Darwin Supercars is something the Territory Labor Government prides itself on as we know they attract large numbers of interstate visitors, in turn boosting our local economy.

Last years Supercars generated $14.5 million in total visitor expenditure, with 9,156 unique visitors making their way to the Top End for the on and off-track entertainment.

Boosting visitation, creating jobs and supporting local businesses is a key priority for the Territory Labor Government, which is why we contribute $3 million to bring the Supercars to the Northern Territory every year.
