Following the announcement from the Australian Tourism Industry Council (ATIC) that the Australian Tourism Awards national program and associated national event will not be proceeding in 2020, Tourism NT advises that the 2020 Brolga Northern Territory Tourism Awards will also not proceed.
As noted by Department of Tourism, Sport and Culture Acting CEO Andrew Hopper:
“To be in the running to win an Australian Tourism Award, entrants must first enter and win via their state and territory award programs.
“With the absence of a national award program for our NT Gold Winners to progress to, we have decided to not proceed in 2020.
“This will enable our NT tourism organisations to focus on their businesses and prepare for reopening without the distraction of also trying to prepare an awards submission.
“We look forward to holding the Brolga Northern Territory Tourism Awards to recognise and encourage our NT tourism businesses to strive for excellence in every area of their operations again in 2021.”
