2024 Australia Day Award Winners Announced

Citizen of the Year – Jacki Waugh

Jacki Waugh has been awarded the title of Citizen of the Year for her efforts in enhancing the community. Known as the “everything person” Jacki is always ready to lend a helping hand whether organising events or supporting local initiatives, Jacki embodies the true spirit of community service.

Youth Citizen of the Year – Annalise Denney

Annalise Denney received Youth Citizen of the Year for her dedication to community service. Annalise has been a committed volunteer of St John Ambulance NSW Goulburn Division for over 6 years providing essential event health services.

Community Event of the Year – Australian Okinawan Goju-Ryu Karate-Do Federation National Gasshuku Championships

The Australian Okinawan Goju-Ryu Karate-Do Federation National Gasshuku Championships received Community Event of the Year. This event was held in November 2023 at the Veolia Arena with record-breaking attendance in Oceania, drawing 275 participants from Australia and abroad.

Junior Sports person of the Year – Dylan Downey

Dylan Downey has been named the Junior Sports Person of the Year for his exceptional achievements in Hockey. Dylan’s achievements in 2023 include the U18 Futures Squad, NSW U21 Nationals, and Australian U21 Burras Squad. Dylan’s accomplishments also extend globally, having toured Europe and Malaysia as a key player in the Australia U21 Burras Team.
