$25 million investment builds on Launceston City Deal

Will Hodgman,Premier

The Tasmanian Liberal Government welcomes the Morrison Liberal Government’s $15 million commitment to support the development of a purpose built community hub in the northern suburbs of Launceston and $10 million contribution towards the Albert Hall renewal project.

The Launceston City Deal is already working to make Launceston one of Australia’s most liveable and innovative regional cities today’s commitments build upon this important work.

Revitalising Launceston’s northern suburbs is a key priority of the City Deal and these projects will deliver new and upgraded sporting and recreation facilities that will bring the community together.

The Tasmanian Government also welcomes the commitment of the Morrison Liberal Government to extend the Launceston City Deal partnership between all levels of government to 10 years.

Extending the Deal is a demonstration of the ongoing commitment of all levels of government to Launceston and will help unlock a new wave of investment and job creation.

Tasmania is the only State in the nation to have signed two City Deals, and combined with the Devonport Living Cities Project, it amounts to a forward investment schedule approaching $2 billion to grow jobs and transform our cities, right across the State.

Tasmania’s thriving economy has made our State a stronger and more confident than ever before. In partnership with the Morrison Liberal Government, we are investing to ensure every region benefits from a growing economy and continues to enjoy Tasmania’s unique way of life.
