$4.2 million of drugs seized in drug trafficking operation at Logan, QLD

Detectives from Logan Major and Organised Crime Squad have charged 5 people with 34 offences and seized more than $4.2 million of dangerous drugs, as part of Operation Victor Extort.

The operation was established to target the alleged supply and distribution of illicit drugs in the Logan area.

In total across the three-month operation, police seized approximately 3.5 kilograms of methylamphetamine, 625 grams of cocaine and 19 kilograms of cannabis.

The dangerous drugs have a total estimated value of $4.225 million.

It will be further alleged a handgun and prescription medication were also located as part of the operation.

On Tuesday September 26, search warrants were executed across Logan including at locations in Woodridge, Loganlea, Marsden, Edens Landing and Redbank Plains.

A 28-year-old man was located nearby a search warrant executed at Woodridge, where it is alleged he was intending to meet a person to supply methylamphetamine.

He was instead met by detectives and taken into custody.

The 28-year-old Woodridge man has been charged with one count trafficking in dangerous drugs (methylamphetamine), 9 counts of supplying dangerous drugs (serious organised crime), three counts of possessing dangerous drugs, two counts of possessing anything for use/used in commission of crime and one count of unlawful supply of weapons (handgun).

A 28-year-old local man was taken into custody at Loganlea and charged with six counts of supplying dangerous drugs and one count each of trafficking in dangerous drugs and unlawful supply of weapons.

A 26-year-old local woman was taken into custody at Marsden and charged with one count each of trafficking dangerous drugs, receiving or possessing property obtained from trafficking dangerous drugs, possessing anything used in the commission of crime and two counts of supplying dangerous drugs.

The two men and woman were refused bail and are all expected to appear before Beenleigh Magistrates Court today, September 27.

A 26-year-old local man was taken into custody following the execution of a search warrant at Bellbird Park, and charged with contravening an order and possession of drug utensils. He is expected to appear before Ipswich Magistrates Court on October 18.

A second 28-year-old local man was taken into custody following the execution of a search warrant at Woodridge, and charged with possessing dangerous drugs (cocaine). He is expected to appear before Beenleigh Magistrates Court on October 18.

Organised Crime Gangs Group Detective Superintendent Troy Pukallus said these arrests and drug seizures will have a substantial impact on the illicit drug market in Logan.

“This is a significant outcome in the context of the harm caused to the local community by this alleged criminal syndicate,” Detective Superintendent Pukallus said.

“We remain committed to disrupting serious and organised crime and ask the public to continue assisting us by providing any information regarding drug and firearms supply in their community.”
