$5 million available to fund community safety and anti-drug measures

  • Criminal Property Confiscation Grants Program is now open
  • The amount of money on offer is double what was awarded in the last round
  • Grants Program is funded by cash and property seized from criminals
  • Applications must meet a strict set of criteria to ensure the grants benefit the community
  • Grants worth a total of $5 million are now available for not-for-profit community groups and local governments as part of the State Government’s Criminal Property Confiscation Grants Program.

Administered by the Department of Justice, the program allows local governments and non‑profit community groups to apply for grants of up to $200,000. The funds, which have been seized under the State’s tough proceeds of crime laws, will support projects that prevent or reduce drug-related crime and drug abuse, support crime victims or aid law enforcement.

In the previous grants round, 13 projects shared funding of $2.13 million.

Attorney General John Quigley today launched the 15th round of the Grants Program.

For further information about the Criminal Property Confiscation Grants Program including the guidelines and an application form, visit the Department of Justice website at https://department.justice.wa.gov.au/grants

Applicants can also contact the Department’s Grants Administrator on 9264 1206 or 1800 994 400 to discuss the grant application process.

Applications close at 12pm on Wednesday, April 1,2020.

As stated by Attorney General John Quigley:

“It is very satisfying to return money and property seized as the result of criminal activity to the community through these grants.

“I commend the work of WA Police Force and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions that allows these grants to be made.

“I urge organisations and local councils who feel they have a worthy application that will benefit the community to contact the Department for advice.”
