The health and safety of Tasmanians remains our number one priority, and that’s why yesterday we took immediate and precautionary action in response to the COVID-19 cluster in Adelaide. Today, we have provided a further update to Tasmanians and those visiting from South Australia.
Firstly, for visitors who are already self-isolating after arriving from South Australia or Tasmanians who have returned home from South Australia from 7 November, we would ask that they continue to self-isolate for another 24 hours.
We will continue to take public health advice and will provide another update tomorrow, however we would hope that these people may soon be able to return to their normal activities.
In terms of those visitors that arrived in our State from yesterday afternoon, we lifted South Australia to a medium risk jurisdiction as of yesterday, and we intend to keep that in place for the time being.
Following further public health advice, we may look at putting in place geographical restrictions, allowing us to differentiate between areas that the latest evidence defines as COVID hotspots and those which are not. A further update will be provided on this in coming days.
Importantly, If anyone who is self-isolating or in quarantine has any symptoms, please get tested, contact the Public Health hotline 1800 671 738. And importantly, if anyone is seriously ill, please call 000 and explain your circumstance to the operator and you will receive the help you need.
