Defence celebrated the graduation of 274 midshipmen and officer cadets from the Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA) at a parade in Canberra today.
Around 800 trainee officers participated in the parade to farewell the junior officers as they begin their careers in the Australian Defence Force (ADF), equipped with a bachelor’s degree from the University of New South Wales.
The parade was reviewed by the Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC, DSC (retd), and attended by a number of distinguished guests, family and friends.
The Chief of the Defence Force, General Angus Campbell, AO, DSC, said the ADFA graduates had demonstrated dedication to their studies, military training and personal growth.
“Graduating from the Australian Defence Force Academy carries prestige and recognition both within our Defence Force and the broader Defence community,” General Campbell said.
“World-class education and training has prepared our newest junior officers to be leaders in their respective fields, contribute meaningfully to our workforce, and thrive in a dynamic and complex global landscape.
“I congratulate the midshipmen and officer cadets on their achievements to date and wish them every success as they start their careers in the ADF.”
Among the 2023 cohort graduating, there were 14 international students from Philippines, Malaysia, Pakistan, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and Saudi Arabia.
The class of 2023 join the ranks of distinguished ADFA alumni, known for their excellence and contribution to Defence.
