Adoption of Eastern Creek Flood Study

The Eastern Creek Flood Study was adopted by Council on 27 September 2023. From 25 October 2023, planning controls will apply to land within the revised flood planning area of the Eastern Creek catchment.

Under the NSW Government’s Flood Prone Land Policy, outlined in the Flood Risk Management Manual 2023, all Councils have a duty of care to manage lands subject to flooding within their local government area. The policy outlines the flood risk management processes by which councils should operate to reduce the risk to life, property and other impacts from flooding.

One of our obligations under this policy is to keep flooding information within Blacktown City Council up-to-date. The new flood study will provide information, guide development and identify areas of risk in the Eastern Creek catchment.

The Eastern Creek flood study was exhibited between 2 May 2023 and 23 June 2023.
