Advice on Novel Coronavirus

A case of Coronavirus involving a 60-year-old man who had dined at a Glen Waverley restaurant on Sunday, 26 January (Australia Day) was confirmed by the Department of Health and Human Services on Wednesday 29 January.

The Department is asking anyone who was at the restaurant The House of Delight at Level 1, 52 Montclair Avenue, Glen Waverley, between 5.30pm and 7pm on Sunday 26 January to contact the Department.

The Department is advising there is a low risk to other diners but want to speak to them as a precaution. If you were at the restaurant, or know anyone that was, please contact the Department on 1300 651 160.

Council is working closely with the Department and the Municipal Association Victoria on this issue.

The government has updated its advice regarding people who have recently travelled to mainland China, including Wuhan City.

As a precaution, people who have been in mainland China (excluding Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan) on or after 1 February 2020 or in Hubei Province (China) at any time are advised to self-isolate for 14 days after landing in Australia (other than when seeking medical care).

Adults should not attend work and children should not attend school, kindergarten or childcare.

If a person who has been in mainland China on or after 1 February 2020 or Hubei Province at any time begins to feel unwell and develop shortness of breath, a cough or respiratory illness during the 14 days since they landed in Australia, they should seek medical attention. Call ahead to your GP or emergency department and mention your travel to mainland China/Hubei Province.

There are things you can do to reduce the spread of the virus. Ensure you and your family wash your hands after using the toilet and before eating, and use a tissue to cover your mouth when sneezing or coughing (put your used tissue in the rubbish bin).
