AIS plays host to announcement of Australia’s largest Olympic boxing team

Australian Olympic Team Chef de Mission Anna Meares has today announced a history making Australian boxing team for Paris 2024 at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra.

Meares joined the 12 strong team – the largest ever selected to represent Australia in boxing at an Olympic Games – for the official naming ceremony at the AIS Combat Centre.

Among those to receive a ticket to Paris was proud Ngarrindjeri woman Marissa Williamson Pohlman, the first Indigenous woman to box for Australia at the Olympics, the first Muslim Australian woman to box at the Olympics in Tina Rahimi, and team captain Caitlin Parker, the first woman to box at two Olympics for Australia.
