Alexandra Avenue kindergarten officially opened

A brand new 66-place kindergarten has been officially opened at the Alexandra Avenue Children’s Centre in Sunshine.

Mayor of Brimbank, Cr Lucinda Congreve officially opened the Alexandra Avenue Kindergarten alongside Member for Western Metropolitan Region, Ms Ingrid Stitt MLC, today.

“The Alexandra Avenue Kindergarten is made up of two, purpose-built rooms which can accommodate 33, four-year-old kindergarten places each; that’s 66 places in total,” Cr Congreve said.

“The $1.49million project was delivered through a partnership with the Department of Education which contributed $500,000 through its Children’s Facilities Capital Funding.

“Brimbank City Council put $940,000 into the project.

“The opening of this kindergarten also signals the completion of the Alexandra Avenue Children’s Centre.

“As well as providing more places to meet the growing demand in the area, the centre offers local families access to long day care, Maternal and Child Health Services, allied health services for early years, and family services.

“This space confirms Brimbank City Council’s commitment to providing facilities for children to access universal early education, before they start school,” Cr Congreve said.

Alexandra Avenue kindergarten will welcome its first kindergarten children into the facility in 2020.
