ALGWA NSW Women in Elections

Australian Local Government Women’s Association (ALGWA) NSW are hosting a forum for Narrandera Shire Council on Saturday 15 May from 2pm to 5pm at Narrandera Golf Club, Racecourse Rd, Narrandera.

The forum aims to encourage, inform, and support women to stand for election across the state in this year’s Local Government Elections.

Across NSW, women support their communities in a variety of ways. From running school P&C’s, building and expanding local businesses, overseeing local sports competitions, community campaigns, coordinating drought and bushfire relief for neighbours and local businesses. These leadership skills are highly transferable to local government, where your skills can assist and benefit your entire community.

“As the President of Australian Local Government Association NSW (ALGWA NSW) I am proud to say that we on the Executive Board are putting our best foot forward,” said Cr. Casandra Coleman.

“To ensure that in the upcoming NSW Local Government September elections, representation of women will increase across this great state,” Cr Coleman continued.

If you have the drive and determination, ALGWA NSW will give you support, information and encouragement to stand for election to your council.

Everyone interested in candidacy, female or male, is encouraged to attend.

Attendance is free and bookings/registrations essential. Please secure your registration for the forum through Council at https://www.narrandera.nsw.gov.au/events/women-government-forum
