Amateur photographers celebrated

On Wednesday 12 July an awards ceremony was held to celebrate the winners of the 2023 Boroondara Photograph Competition. Thank you to everyone who submitted entries to this year’s competition. Hundreds of entries were received showcasing the talents of budding photographers of all ages and abilities in our community.

The entries were judged by the Town Hall Gallery Curatorial Team, and the winners were presented with certificates, and will receive the exhibition-quality prints of their winning entries at the conclusion of the exhibition. The winner of the Best in Competition award received the gift of a one-on-one masterclass with artist Cyrus Tang. Over the past 20 years Tang has examined sentiments of nostalgia within memory and fantasy, reconstructing ephemeral mental images and sensations in permanent materials. Cyrus Tang’s artwork will be on display in the major solo exhibition ‘The Memory Palace: Cyrus Tang’ at Town Hall Gallery from Wednesday 26 July to Saturday 21 October 2023. View ‘The Memory Palace: Cyrus Tang’ exhibition page.

The Boroondara Photograph Competition is an annual competition with a new theme each year. This year’s theme was ‘Celebrate Boroondara’ with entrants invited to submit photos celebrating the diversity and heritage of Boroondara’s places, spaces, and people. Prizes were awarded across two key categories – the Open Photograph Competition and the Young Photographers’ Competition.
