- Cook Labor Government again increases social housing eligibility limits for both single and dual-income households
- Changes to income eligibility limits will ensure recipients of Commonwealth benefits remain eligible for social housing
- Under the current WA Labor Government, income eligibility limits for social housing have increased six times
Housing Minister John Carey has announced another increase to the income eligibility limits for social housing.
Social housing income eligibility limits have increased by $13 for single income households and $20 for dual income households.
This latest increase will ensure that recipients of Commonwealth statutory benefits who receive no other income continue to remain eligible for social housing. The increase to income eligibility limits affects both public housing and community housing where public housing income eligibility limits are used.
This latest increase, the sixth by the current WA Labor Government, will ensure that recipients of Commonwealth statutory benefits who receive no other income continue to remain eligible for social housing.
Income limit increases are effective from 16 September 2024.
As stated by Housing Minister John Carey:
“The Cook Labor Government has increased social housing income eligibility limits six times since coming into Government in March 2017, ensuring those most vulnerable in our community remain eligible for social housing.
“In eight years of Government, the previous Barnett Liberal-National Government did not increase social housing income eligibility once and the Cook Labor Government has now increased social housing eligibility limits six times.
“We continue to drive and deliver reforms to ensure the most vulnerable members of our community have access to safe, affordable and sustainable housing – including through our record $3.2 billion investment into housing and homelessness measures.”
