Another innings for Healthway and WACA partnership

  • Healthway and WACA partnership has been extended for an additional two years
  • Partnership will target responsible drinking and healthy eating initiatives
  • The program is set to reach more than 680,000 participants and spectators 
  • The McGowan Government, through Healthway, has extended its partnership with the Western Australian Cricket Association (WACA) with funding of $1,015,000 over the next two years.

    Healthway will continue to work with the WACA to deliver the Alcohol.Think Again message across all levels of cricket within the State.

    The partnership aims to reinforce healthy alcohol environments at a club level and through all WACA controlled activities.

    New to this partnership is the WACA’s Healthy Eating Initiative, which will involve an ambassador promotion strategy for healthy eating with a club education program.

    This grant was part of the latest round of approved Healthway funding with 24 approved grants totalling almost $2 million.

    As stated by Health Minister Roger Cook:

    “For the past seven years the WACA has supported the Alcohol.Think Again message and is now one of Healthway’s most effective partnerships in behavioural and cultural change.

    “The WACA was one of the first organisations to remove unhealthy brands from the sporting environments it controls and is now a leader in promoting healthy club environments.

    “I’m delighted to see this partnership continue and expand on developing healthy club culture and encouraging constructive change throughout WA.”
