Another teenager charged following alleged armed robbery – Operation Regional Mongoose

A teenager has been charged following an alleged armed robbery and vehicle theft in the state’s north-west at the weekend.

Just after 12.05am Sunday (18 August 2024), officers attached to New England Police District were called to a motel on Boggabilla Road, Moree, following reports of two males had forced their way into a room and threatened the occupants before allegedly stealing a 2010-model silver Audi Q5.

Police were told the males left in the Audi and the Ford SUV matching the description of a vehicle stolen the previous day.

Following inquiries, about 7:50pm on Tuesday (20 August 2024), officers attached to New England Police District arrested a 17-year-old boy at an address in Moree.

He was taken to Moree Police Station and charged with aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence-armed, contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (Domestic), aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence-armed, robbery armed with offensive weapon, drive conveyance taken without consent of owner, driver never licensed and breach of bail.

He was refused bail to appear before Armidale Children’s Court today (Wednesday 21 August 2024).
