Anzac Day assault at footy

Police are investigating an assault which occurred in Melbourne on 25 April.

Investigators have been told an unknown male offender punched a male spectator to the back of his head at the end of a football game at a stadium on Brunton Avenue about 5.50pm before fleeing.

It is believed the offender was sitting in the area of M50, Row EE in either seat 6 or 7 prior to the assault.

The victim did not receive any injuries from the incident.

The offender is perceived to be of Caucasian appearance and aged in his 30’s.

Police have released an image of a man who may be able to assist them with their investigation.

Police recognise the importance of gaining early awareness of unruly fan behaviour as it begins to develop, and we encourage fans to report anti-social behaviour to stadium security or nearby police.
