Appeal after attempted armed robbery at Lake Illawarra, NSW

Police are appealing for information following the attempted armed robbery of a man in the state’s Illawarra yesterday.

Just after 11pm (Sunday 27 February 2022), a 37-year-old man was walking towards the Port Kembla train station, when he was approached by four males along King Street, Warrawong.

One of the males threatened the man with a glass bottle while demanding his wallet and belongings.

After refusing to hand anything over, the man was punched in the head by two of the males before they fled on foot. The man was not seriously injured.

Officers attached to Lake Illawarra Police were notified and have commenced inquiries to identify the four males involved.
