Appeal after man assaulted with machete at Grafton, NSW

Police are appealing for information after a man was assaulted with a machete in the state’s north.

About 1.20pm on Tuesday 16 August 2022, emergency services responded to reports of an assault involving a machete on Duke Street, Grafton, near the intersection of Pound Street.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated a 24-year-old man at the scene for serious hand injuries.

He was taken to Grafton Hospital in a serious, but stable condition, before being airlifted to John Hunter Hospital.

Officers from Coffs-Clarence Police District established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Police believe a red Subaru may have been seen on Duke Street around the time of the incident.
