Appeal after serious assault, NSW

A man remains in hospital after a serious assault in Circular Quay over the weekend.

Just before 3.30am on Saturday 29 May 2022, an 18-year-old man was walking with friends along the waterfront, outside a museum at Circular Quay, when he was approached by an unknown man.

The pair became involved in an altercation before they were separated by onlookers.

A short time later, the 18-year-old attended the Rocks Police Station with serious facial injuries.

He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to hospital with jaw, cheek and nose injuries.

Officers attached to Sydney City Police Area Command commenced inquiries and a crime scene was established at the waterfront, which was examined by specialist forensic officers.

As the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident continue, police have released images of a man they believe will be able to assist them.

He is described as being of Middle Eastern appearance, approximately 18 to 25 years old, wearing a long sleeve light coloured button up shirt, ripped denim jeans with light coloured shoes, and a black and white horizontal striped shirt.
