Appeal after shots fired, NSW

Police are appealing for public assistance after shots were fired at a house in Sydney’s west tonight.

Emergency services were called to the Carcoola Street address in Canley Vale, just after 7.30pm (Tuesday 8 September 2020), following reports a man had been assaulted and shots had been fired.

Officers from Fairfield Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene, which will be examined by specialist forensic officers.

Police were told that five unknown males entered the house and assaulted a 49-year-old man.

A second man chased the males from the property before two shots were fired in the direction of the building.

The 49-year-old man sustained a cut to the head and was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

The five males, described only as Pacific Islander/ Maori in appearance, were seen fleeing in a blue sedan.

As part of ongoing inquiries, police are urging anyone with information about the shooting, or with dashcam footage, to contact police.
