Detectives from Frankston Crime Investigation Unit are hoping to identify a good Samaritan who stepped in to assist a young woman during an incident in Frankston yesterday morning.
Police have been told the young woman, who is aged in her teens, was waiting at a bus stop in Ashleigh Avenue when she was approached by a man on Tuesday 3 August about 7.30am.
The man attempted to grab the teenager and drag her toward a vehicle before the good Samaritan stepped in to assist.
The good Samaritan, who was male and driving a blue sedan, disturbed the offender who jumped into a car and drove off.
The teenager wasn’t physically injured during the incident.
Detectives are appealing for the man who assisted the young woman and anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.
Following extensive enquiries by police overnight a man was arrested in relation to the incident in Carrum Downs this morning.
It’s believed the man was also involved in a number of other allegedly linked incidents throughout the southern suburbs of Melbourne yesterday.
The 20-year-old man, from no fixed address, is currently assisting police with their enquiries.
He was arrested at a property in Gamble Road in Carrum Downs about 1am.
The arrest follows this incident, an incident in Carrum Downs about 2pm where a firearm was used to allegedly threaten two motorists in a car, an incident at a shopping centre on Nepean Hwy in Moorabbin where the man was allegedly causing issues and ran off from security.
It is also alleged the man was involved in an incident in Carrum Downs and a shop theft in Seaford Monday afternoon.
